Job summary

St. Peter's Health Partners is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Outpatient Orthopedics Office in Latham, NY. This full-time, day-shift position requires NYS RN licensure, BLS, and prior RN experience.

The role includes patient assessment, EMR documentation, medication review, referrals, and coordination of care within a supportive team. Work hours are Monday–Friday with an emphasis on quality patient care.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is required.
• Current NYS RN license is required.
• 6 months RN experience preferred.
• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Brings patient to exam room, takes vital signs and documents in EMR.
• Review and update medication list in EMR for provider review and submission.
• Complete referrals and track patient compliance.
• Review prescriptions electronically and send prescriptions to providers for review.
• Obtains patient consent for procedures as directed by provider.
• Performs pre-visit planning and reviews quality metrics.
• Retrieves telephonic clinical information from patients.
• Monitors task list and completes tasks assigned by provider in a timely manner.
• Educates patients regarding medication, testing procedures and home care techniques.
• Ensure proper labeling, handling and documentation for patient specimens.
• Follow up with patient regarding test results based on advice given by provider.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment including disinfecting patient care areas and equipment.
• In conjunction with other nursing colleagues, maintains the medical supply cabinet and drug cabinet.
• Uses the electronic medical record to communicate effectively.
• Performs quality assurance duties as assigned.
• Provides a clinical visit summary (Patient Plan) to patient as requested including educational materials.
• Participates in daily Patient Care huddles as appropriate.
• Works cooperatively with all colleagues to ensure quality patient care at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
