Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Clinic. You will coordinate care from intake through surgery and work with the orthopedic team across Short Pump, Downtown, and Stony Point Clinics.

Key responsibilities include pre- and post-op care coordination, age-specific nursing care, accurate documentation, medication safety, patient and family education, and collaboration with the care team to promote

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or eligible/compact state.
• BSN or MSN preferred; all RNs must enroll in BSN within 5 years.
• BLS/ACLS certification as required for role.
• Experience in orthopedic, perioperative, or surgical nursing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care from pre-op through post-op for seamless surgical experience.
• Provide age-specific nursing care per orders and plans.
• Document patient care, assessments, and responses to treatment.
• Safely administer prescribed medications and manage interactions.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery, and ongoing care.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote wellness and injury prevention.
