Job summary

Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento is seeking a Nurse Manager of Outpatient Services to oversee a department of frontline nurses and support them in reaching their full potential. The role emphasizes accountability, strong communication in 1:1 and group settings, and effective management of performance and staffing.

Key duties include supervising shift-based nursing staff, monitoring patient care standards, planning staffing, and ensuring supplies and records are up to date.

Qualifications

• BSN or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of three years of nursing experience.
• One year of leadership experience.
• Registered Nurse: CA.
• BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
• Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.
