Job summary

Allina Health’s Brain and Spine Institute seeks a Neurology physician to deliver direct patient care in a general outpatient clinic, collaborating with subspecialists to provide high‑quality care in Minnesota. The role includes outreach, a 1.0 FTE distribution, dedicated nursing and scheduling support, and potential on‑call duties.

The candidate will diagnose, treat, and consult on brain and nervous system conditions, participate in multidisciplinary teams, and engage in teaching and quality

Qualifications

• Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
• Completion of an accredited Residency training program in Neurology or foreign equivalent training

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: Diagnoses, treats and consults patients who have a disease or impaired function of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles and autonomic nervous system, as well as the blood vessels that relate to these structures.
• Examines patient's mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
• Performs and interpret basic neurophysiology tests.
• Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
• Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
• Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
• Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
• Participates in neuroscience research activities.
• Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
• Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
• May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
• May participate in on-call rotation.
• Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
• May participate in peer review and quality assurance.

Education
