Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group Des Moines is seeking a licensed mental health practitioner with supervisory experience to lead outpatient counseling teams across Des Moines, Newton and Indianola. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a human services related discipline from an accredited program, required.
• Must be independently licensed Masters level prepared mental health practitioner (or eligible within six months of hire).
• Three (3) years of post-licensure clinical experience preferred.
• One (1) year supervisory experience, required.
• Experience with student internship programs and staff training, preferred.
• Previous experience working with substance use disorders and at-risk clientele is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, guides, and directs outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling staff emphasizing/insuring the provision of qualitative therapeutic services in our Des Moines, Indianola and Newton offices.
• Provides oversight for mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and personal growth related therapy services to clients. Understands advanced psychosocial theory and methods to counseling services for individuals, families and groups with appropriate regard for the complexity of given problems.
• Provides crisis intervention and conflict resolution assistance. Demonstrates ability to differentiate between emergency and non-emergency tasks and responds accordingly. Provides immediate supportive counseling and necessary assistance to clients dealing with a crisis or emergency situation.
• Provides leadership and support to House of Mercy’s outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment programs accreditation and compliance initiatives/activities.
• Consistently monitors and evaluates the quality and consistency of therapeutic services provided to children, adults and families served by House of Mercy.
• Evaluates overall programming to insure that it is researched/best practice based and tied to measurable outcomes.
