Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a healthcare professional to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised AFC location; duties include taking vitals, preparing for exams, administering vaccines, drawing labs, and coordinating referrals.

Benefits and duties may vary by franchise; AFC centers feature onsite labs and in-house x-ray, supporting episodic treatment seven days a week.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedures
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance
• Respond to lab messages and callback requests
• Perform drug screening procedures per established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications when needed
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
