Job summary

Acadia Healthcare's Charleston Comprehensive Treatment Center in Charleston, WV, seeks a Substance Use Counselor for our outpatient MAT program. You will provide individual and group counseling to patients with opioid use disorder and document progress with clear, timely notes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services required.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional).
• Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT): methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone.
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling focused on substance use recovery.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, and relapse prevention techniques.
• Experience documenting clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress in line with state and federal guidelines.
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, case managers, and peers.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient’s recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure all documentation regarding patient care is complete and clear.
• Prepare individualized treatment plans for each patient.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate needs and determine referrals to other programs.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Perform case management duties to ensure quality care.
• Act as liaison between referral sources and patients.
