Job summary

Acadia Healthcare’s Clinch Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center seeks a Substance Use Counselor to provide compassionate individual and group counseling for opioid use disorder. You will document care, plan treatments, and participate in aftercare planning while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team at the Cedar Bluff clinic.

Qualifications include CSAC-R or CSAC eligibility, a bachelor’s or master’s in counseling-related fields, and experience in addiction recovery settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, social, or health services field with 2+ years’ experience.
• Master's degree in counseling, social, or health services field with 1 year of professional work experience.
• Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional).
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents is timely and clear.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for assigned patients.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals are needed.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention to patients as needed.
• Perform case management duties for patients to ensure quality care.
• Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients as needed.
