Job summary

MD Anderson Cancer Center's Gastrointestinal Cancer Center is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the outpatient clinic team. The ideal candidate has a Texas RN license and at least two years of nursing experience, preferably in ambulatory GI or oncology settings, with ACLS/PALS a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Current State of Texas RN license required; BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
• Assesses patient's nursing needs using clinical skills and observations.
• Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
• Integrates age-specific care needs, oncology practice standards and institutional goals.
• Improves practice by applying research findings and participating in studies.
• Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in care, using medications and procedures.
• Ensures continuity of care through discharge planning and patient education.
