Job summary

Savista is seeking an experienced Outpatient Facility Coder (Coder II) to code Same Day Surgery and Emergency Department encounters, reviewing clinical documentation and assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes for outpatient facility services. This role emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Must have an active AHIMA or AAPC credential, at least 1 year of recent outpatient facility coding experience, and strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS.

Qualifications

• Active AHIMA or AAPC credential.
• At least 1 year of recent outpatient facility coding experience.
• Experience coding Same Day Surgery and/or Emergency Department facility services.
• Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS.
• Ability to interpret clinical documentation and apply coding guidelines.
• Meet productivity expectations with 95%+ quality.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation to assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes for outpatient facility services.
• Code Same Day Surgery and Emergency Department encounters.
• Assign codes for a variety of surgical, diagnostic, and ED services based on documentation.
• Apply outpatient facility coding guidelines to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Validate APC assignments when applicable.
• Review and resolve coding-related claims scrubber edits to support clean claims.
• Abstract clinical and patient information from medical records.
• Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, APC, NCCI and related guidance.
• Meet productivity and quality targets (≥95%).
• Participate in training, meetings, and client sessions.
