Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Outpatient Coding Lead, you will be the daily contact for coding, DRG/code validation, and operational questions from coding staff, HSC staff, and shared service center departments. You will support coding leadership by coordinating coding and education activities within the HSC, ensuring complete, accurate, and consistent coding for proper reimbursement and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and perform HSC coding quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Provide feedback and education on coding opportunities.
• Ensure timely rebill requests and accurate account review.
• Assist with day-to-day coding operations and process improvements.
• Coordinate training and education activities for coding staff.
• Report on team and individual performance and training needs.
• Coach and facilitate team problem-solving.
• Verify staff productivity and ensure compliance with deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Management and supervisory experience in healthcare preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of acute care outpatient coding experience.
• Minimum 3 years of coding auditing experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification (or in process).
• Associate's degree or higher in HIM/HIT preferred.
