Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for our Outpatient Clinic. The role supports a decentralized, patient-centered approach under RN supervision and physician direction.

You will interview patients, measure vital signs, prepare rooms, and input data into the medical record to help ensure efficient patient flow. The CMA performs multi-skilled activities in collaboration with the healthcare team, maintains room readiness, and contributes to patient education and care plans

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
• One year of patient care experience preferred.
• Six months CMA/RMA experience required.
• Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA as CMA/CCMA/NAHP/NCCT.
• Current AHA BLS certification or Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures calibrations, cleaning and maintenance of clinical/lab equipment per OSHA, DHEC and UMA policies.
• Maintains and reviews patient records and communicates care plans; documents test/exam results and educates patients.
• Maintains exam room supplies and cleanliness per OSHA, DHEC and UMA.
• Schedules appointments/referrals and screens patients; provides patient education as appropriate.
• Triage patients, assists with exams/procedures, and administers prescribed treatments/tests.
• Handles medication distribution and instructions per physician orders.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of an accredited medical assisting program

One (1) year of patient care experience preferred

Six (6) months of CMA/RMA experience
