Job summary

Geisinger in Berwick is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in the outpatient setting. You will support providers, prepare patients, document in the EMR, and help ensure a safe, efficient clinic environment.

The role requires CMA or RMA certification and a high school diploma (GED accepted). Training as a Medical Assistant or completion of a specialty program is preferred, with at least one year of related experience encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from specialty training program preferred.
• CMA or RMA certification required; certification by NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH or AMCA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient information including reason for visit, vitals, and screening details.
• Set up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assist patient in preparing for visit and ensure safety and privacy.
• Provide direct patient care as directed, including EKGs and wound care; assist during minor procedures.
• Prepare and administer medications per policy after competency validation.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens; document accurately.
• Perform receptionist and clerical duties to support patient care and medical records.
• Utilize EMR and scheduling system; arrange referrals and pre-authorizations; collect co-pays.
