Job summary

Chicago Behavioral Hospital in Des Plaines, IL is seeking an experienced Outpatient Clinical Supervisor to provide clinical leadership, guide program development, and oversee outpatient services. You will support the treatment team and ensure high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate has a Master's in Social Work or related field, an Illinois license, at least three years in psychiatric care, and a solid understanding of Joint Commission and CMS standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or related field preferred with Illinois license.
• Minimum of 3 years in a psychiatric health care facility with crisis intervention experience.
• Strong knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS standards; OSHA and patient rights familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership to Outpatient Program Therapists.
• Ensure continuity of care and effective communication across the treatment team.
• Oversee therapist documentation for accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Support supervision and training of new therapy staff.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state and patient-rights standards.
• Lead monthly therapy team meetings.
• Monitor treatment planning processes with measurable goals.
• Evaluate therapist performance and support development.
• Collaborate with community agencies for patient assessment and services.
• Respond to social work service requests.

Job Duties

• Provide clinical leadership and serve as a resource to Outpatient Program Therapists.
• Ensure continuity of care and effective communication across the treatment team

• Support supervisionand training of new therapy staff.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, and patient-rights standards.
• Lead and document monthly therapy team meetings.
• Monitor treatment planning processes to ensure individualized, measurable goals.
• Evaluate therapist performance and support improvement and development.
• Promote consistent application of program policies, procedures, and standards of care
• Collaborate with community agencies for patient assessment and services.
• Evaluate and document the effectiveness of interventions and patient responses
• Respond promptly to social work service requests.
• Contribute to the effective functioning of the patient's program and meet social work needs.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
• Ensure specific, measurable goals and interventions are defined.
• Adhere to specific standards for the care of diverse patient populations.
• Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric emergencies.

Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:

• Education & Licensure: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field preferred. Illinois State license in social work or clinical related mental health field preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of three(3) years’ experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; and have strong clinical assessment skills preferred.
• Additional Skill Requirements: A strong knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS standards, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.Must be able to pass a competency exam for the area upon hire. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
