Chicago Behavioral Hospital in Des Plaines, IL is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) for a per diem day shift. The role supports the treatment team by supervising patients, providing continuous care, and modeling therapeutic behavior under RN supervision.

The position offers a consistent daytime schedule (M-F, 8:00am-12:15pm) with a $25/hour rate and benefits; qualification requirements include completing high school and CNA preferred, with experience in psychiatric patient care encouraged.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; CNA preferred.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

• Exercise judgment in patient interactions.
• Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team.
• Employ crisis-intervention techniques and use facility-approved CPI techniques.
• Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes.
• Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.

Your Experience Matters

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
• Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Additional Skill Requirements: May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Compensation:
