Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Case Therapist II for outpatient casual days. This role is part-time with rotating shifts, focusing on crisis assessment, treatment planning, and collaboration with ED and psychiatric teams.

The position requires a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field and at least one year of relevant experience in mental health/substance use counseling. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field required.
• Minimum of one year or more of experience related to mental health/substance use counseling.
• Interpersonal skills to establish a working relationship with patients and families.
• Analytical skills to monitor patient behavior and maintain a safe milieu.
• Good writing skills to document patient progress.
• Must be organized, detailed oriented, able to multi-task, and dedicated to helping others.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates and documents crisis assessments to identify patient needs and level of care.
• Educates patients about treatment options for mental health and substance use.
• Provides immediate crisis intervention to stabilize patients and outline treatment goals.
• Works with a multi-disciplinary team to consult on treatment and disposition.
• Coordinates access to referrals, availability, and appointments for stabilization.
• Liaisons with ED, PES Team, and Psychiatry for appropriate care decisions.
• Communicates disposition and safety plans to collateral partners.
• Provides crisis intervention services in the psychiatric emergency department.
• Completes screenings and supports crisis response as part of PES team.
• Engages in marketing PES services with community groups and partners.
