Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Medical Assistant for an outpatient clinic in Morgantown. You will provide clerical and clinical support to the medical staff, including specimen handling, test administration, and documenting results.

The position requires a high school diploma, MA program or relevant experience, and BLS certification within 30 days. A background check is required; preferred candidates may hold MA registration/certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR graduate of the Med Ed Program OR one year of clinical experience.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• State criminal background check and Federal checks as required for regulated areas.
• Preferred: Registration or Certification as a medical assistant.
• Experience: One year as a Medical Assistant or patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical and clinical support to medical staff in the outpatient unit.
• Assist providers with requisitions or forms for patient examination or testing.
• Administer prescribed medication under supervision.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens.
• Obtain and document patients’ specimens as ordered and report results.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR Med Ed Program OR one year of clinical experience

BLS certification within 30 days of hire

State and Federal background checks as required

Registration or Certification as a medical assistant (preferred)

One year experience as a Medical Assistant or patient care (experience)
