Under the direction of the Lead Cardiac Sonographer and Clinical Manager, the candidate will ensure that testing procedures are performed according to clinic and department policy and standards, performing noninvasive examinations that involve the application of high‑frequency ultrasonic waves.

Job Description
  • Performs all testing procedures in echocardiography, including diagnostic m‑mode, two‑dimensional, spectral Doppler and color Doppler imaging.
  • Conducts diagnostic exercise/pharmacological stress echocardiograms, producing accurate clinical information for cardiologists.
  • Responds to Code 99s as required.
  • Troubleshoots technical methods of echocardiography as necessary.
  • Ensures a safe testing environment in all daily operations.
  • Retrieves and sends data utilizing the clinical and financial information systems.
  • Utilizes physician orders and provides appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains adequate documentation in the medical record, test report, and department logbooks according to policy.
  • Communicates orally and in writing to promote teamwork and problem‑solving efforts.
  • Adapts to a variety of situations and settings, including special precautions for disabled and dialysis patients.
  • Provides appropriate explanation of test preparation and schedules all types of echo tests in both Burlington and Peabody.
  • Complies with all applicable federal and state laws, clinic policies, and accrediting organization standards.
  • Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.
  • Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
  • Demonstrates understanding of performance expectations and competency assessment.
  • Shows commitment toward meeting and exceeding customer service standards.
  • Participates in departmental and interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  • Completes mandatory education and maintains educational records for credentialing requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet departmental needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree or graduate of an accredited echocardiography program, or relevant clinical experience leading to registry eligibility.
  • ARDMS/RDCS or CCI/RCS accreditation (or eligibility) and current basic life support (BLS) certification. A 1‑year grace period may be provided to candidates who completed an accredited program but did not pass the boards.
  • Strong organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
  • In‑depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy and the ability to apply that knowledge for diagnostic evaluation.
  • At least one year of experience in echocardiography.
Pay Range

$47.00 - $69.84 per hour. The base hourly wage may vary based on seniority, education, training, experience, location, job responsibilities, and other permissible factors. Compensation may exceed the base rate with shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other additional pay practices.
