Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist to perform inpatient and outpatient exams and provide high-quality images for physician review. The role involves pre-procedure preparation, patient interviews, and ensuring accurate documentation for billing and reporting.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate degree in Cardiac Sonography, registry-eligibility with RDCS within a year, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs inpatient and outpatient cardiac ultrasound exams as ordered.
• Reviews charts and gathers patient history prior to exams.
• Interviews patients for symptoms and cardiac history.
• Prepares patients and positions them for imaging.
• Acquires and integrates cardiac ultrasound images.
• Compiles preliminary report for Cardiologist.
• Handles billing data entry and cleans equipment after exams.

This clinical staff position will have an impact on improving patient and physician satisfaction by providing the best possible experience for our patient as well as providing quality images for physician review

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education/Experience Required: Associates Degree in Cardiac Sonography. Five years of Cardiac Sonographer experience may be considered in lieu of the degree


• At least six months of directly related experience in an acute care setting which would include clinicals as part of their degree


• Education/Experience Preferred: At least two years’ experience in an acute care setting

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS

• For employees hired on or after February 1, 2014: Registry-eligible upon hire: Must become registered with the RDCS credential within one year of hire.


• Basic Life Support (BLS)

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs inpatient and outpatient cardiac ultrasound exams according to physician orders either in the Cardiology department or remotely with equipment on patient units.


• Reviews inpatient chart prior to exam to gather pertinent symptoms and history of the patient.


• Interviews the outpatient for symptoms and cardiac history.


• Prepares patient for procedure by assisting/placing patient in proper imaging position and explaining exam.


• Acquires cardiac ultrasound images.


• Integrates images into automated system and compiles a preliminary report for Cardiologist.


• Processes patient billing and inputs data into patient billing system.


• Cleans all testing equipment after each exam.

Pay Range: $46.00 - $61.91

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
