Job summary

Vanderbilt Health in Nashville seeks an Admitting Clerk to accurately admit patients, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and collect deductibles or co-pays. You’ll ensure patient wrist bands and advance directives are in place and address inquiries.

Shifts are Saturdays and Sundays, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with opportunities to support phone operations and assist with in-patient admissions, including OB, as needed, in a large academic health system.

Qualifications

• Responsibilities: Admit all patients in a timely and accurate manner, document information, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and collect deductibles or co-pays.
• Certifications:
• Work Experience: Relevant Work Experience, Experience Level: Less than 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Admit all patients in a timely and accurate manner
• Ensure all current information has been documented, signatures received, insurance has been verified, authorizations received and the deductibles or co-pays have been requested in a compliant manner
• Ensure the wrist bands are put on the proper patients, advance directives given to each patient and patients receive the answer to any questions or concerns they may have
• Serve as back up for the phone operator as needed
• Assist with in-patient patient admissions, including OB, as needed
