Job summary

The City of Pleasanton is seeking a Water Exercise Instructor to lead deep- and shallow-water classes for the active adult community in the Library and Recreation Department. This part-time, temporary role includes Wednesday morning sessions from 7:30–8:25 a.m.

and 8:45–9:40 a.m., with opportunities to substitute other weekday morning and evening classes outdoors. You will provide engaging, safe routines, tailor instructions to different fitness levels, and foster a welcoming, energetic

Qualifications

• Two years of related experience in aquatic fitness or instruction.
• High school diploma or GED required, with related aquatic experience preferred.
• AEA certification or equivalent qualifications to lead safe aquatic classes.
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead scheduled deep- and shallow-water exercise classes on Wednesday mornings.
• Serve as a substitute instructor for additional weekday morning and evening classes as needed.
• Develop and lead safe, engaging aquatic fitness routines for active adults.
• Provide clear instruction and modifications to support varying abilities.
• Monitor participants and pool environment to promote safety.
• Create a cheerful, inclusive, and professional class atmosphere.
• Respond professionally to changing attendance and program expectations.
