Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking a Utility Field Technician to collect information and document overhead power-distribution infrastructure across the Central & Southern Alabama service area. This field-based role requires outdoor work year-round and independent work habits.

You will locate, inspect, photograph, measure, and document poles, lines, transformers, and related equipment using maps, GIS apps, and data-collection tools, then upload accurate field notes daily and coordinate with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in utilities, power distribution, telecommunications, construction, surveying, or GIS is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily assignments with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation of field conditions.
• Comfort using mobile devices, maps, email, and data-collection apps.
• Ability to read maps, follow routes, and navigate rural locations.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of overhead power-distribution facilities.
• Locate, inspect, photograph, measure, and document poles, power lines, transformers, attachments, and related infrastructure.
• Record pole conditions, equipment information, and surrounding field conditions.
• Use maps, GIS-based apps, and data-collection tools to document information.
• Upload photographs, measurements, field notes, and required project data.
• Plan daily routes and manage assigned work within designated field area.
• Communicate field conditions and access concerns with project teams.
• Follow safety requirements and perform related duties as assigned.
