Job summary
City of Lewiston is seeking a skilled Traffic Maintenance Technician to construct, maintain, and repair traffic signals, street lights, and related infrastructure. You will program and test signal equipment and assist with contractor installations while supporting safe and efficient traffic flow.
Work includes comprehensive road infrastructure duties, emergency response readiness, and regular data entry for asset management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma plus three years of traffic maintenance experience.
- CDL preferred at time of hire; must obtain required endorsements within specified timelines.
Responsibilities
- Construct, maintain and repair traffic signals and related structures.
- Program and test signal equipment; supervise installations by contractors.
- Maintain street lighting systems and related wiring up to 480 volts.
- Install and maintain traffic signs and pavement markings.
- Perform temporary traffic control for events, emergencies, and weather events.
- Assist with snow removal and storm system maintenance.
- Respond to emergencies on on-call basis.
- Prepare reports and maintain asset records.
- Communicate with the public to resolve complaints.
