Job summary

State of South Dakota’s Department of Transportation in Watertown invites students for a Summer Internship in Transportation/Construction Engineering. Three positions available; interns will support design, construction and maintenance activities.

Applicants must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student, with at least one year completed; preference to juniors/seniors and SD residents. Duties include survey, materials testing, inspections, data collection, outdoors and physically active

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at time of application.
• By the start of the internship, have completed one year (nine months) of program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and SD college students.

Responsibilities

• Assist on design, construction, or maintenance of state highway projects.
• Participate in survey, materials testing, project inspection, data collection.
• Work outdoors; perform physical activities as required.
