Qualifications

• Enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

Responsibilities

• Interns will be involved in a variety of engineering related activities performed in support of design, construction or maintenance of state highway construction projects.
• Interns will further their knowledge and abilities in the civil engineering field.
• Duties may include participating on survey crew, materials testing, project inspection, data collection and verification, or other engineering related activities.
• Duties are primarily performed outdoors and are physical in nature.
