Job summary

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism seeks a qualified professional to oversee athletic programs, manage staff, and coordinate facilities and events in Cullman, Alabama. You will develop strategic initiatives, supervise staff, manage budgets, and ensure safety and compliance across programs, with a 40-hour workweek including nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• College degree in Sports Management, Recreation Administration, or related field preferred.
• Experience in public sector sports programming and sports program management or coordination.
• Knowledge of local sports community needs and resources; proficiency with management software and office applications.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Background check and drug/alcohol screening required.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with Athletic Director to develop and implement initiatives.
• Program Management: Oversee indoor/outdoor sports programs and leagues.
• Staff Supervision: Supervise program staff and enforce department standards.
• Facility and Equipment Maintenance: Schedule facilities and oversee sports equipment upkeep.
• Customer and Vendor Relations: Manage participant, parent, and vendor relationships; ensure contracts.
• Event Coordination: Organize camps and athletic programs aligned with department goals.
• Safety and Compliance: Implement safety protocols across programs.
• Marketing and Promotion: Assist with marketing to increase visibility and participation.
• Program Evaluation: Evaluate programs and implement improvements.
• Record Management: Maintain accurate program operation and reporting records.
• Fiscal Oversight: Manage budgets and prepare budget reports; report to Athletic Director.
• Attend meetings as requested; collaborate with CPRST Board and City.
• Maintain sound business procedures per laws and policies.
• Exhibit professionalism; work with staff and community.
• Support flexible hours including nights/weekends as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
