Job summary

Brookline Recreation Department seeks a Recreation Leader - Outdoor Recreation to develop, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and deliver outdoor recreation, family nature, athletics, camp, and related programs for participants of all ages. The role focuses on program planning, staff supervision, and community engagement, delivering high-quality services across town recreation programs.

Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, with comfort working outdoors and coordinating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, parks and recreation, outdoor education, or a related field preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in recreation, athletics, outdoor recreation, camp administration, sports management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and lead family-based outdoor recreation and nature programs.
• Coordinate and support licensed Nature Summer Camp operations, including staffing and supervision.
• Administer outdoor athletic programs (soccer, lacrosse, flag football, etc.).
• Organize rosters, schedules, and facilities for safe program delivery.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time and seasonal staff.
• Recruit and oversee volunteer coaches and program volunteers.
• Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and community partners.
• Complete program administration: registrations, records, marketing content, invoices, attendance, reports.
• Assist with department-wide events and safety initiatives.
• Conduct inspections and address safety or maintenance concerns.
