Job summary

Brookline DPW's Parks and Open Spaces Division seeks an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily maintenance, operations, and long-term care of the Town’s parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, cemeteries, school grounds, sanctuaries, and public landscapes.

This role leads staff, coordinates contractors, budgets, and planning, ensuring safe, high-quality park assets and public engagement for the community. Strong supervisory and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in parks management, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies, engineering, or related field, with 5–7 years in parks or facilities management.
• Must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience and familiarity with municipal operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and oversight of parks, fields, cemeteries, and other public spaces.
• Develop and implement maintenance and asset management plans for safe, efficient facilities and fleets.
• Supervise staff, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation; enforce safety standards.
• Assist in budgeting, procurement, and implementation of SOPs and safety protocols.
• Coordinate snow and ice control for Town and School properties and respond to emergencies.
