Job summary

4Roots is an Orlando-based nonprofit host of ORIGIN dinners and culinary programs. The Culinary Kitchen Team Member role supports the preparation and execution of events in an active open-air kitchen, focusing on quality, hospitality, and teamwork throughout prep, service, and breakdown.

The position requires 1+ years line/prep cook experience in a scratch kitchen or similar, strong knife skills, and a willingness to learn from renowned chefs.

Qualifications

• Culinary foundation with 1+ years line/prep cook experience in scratch, fine-dining, or high-end catering; or current enrollment/completion of a culinary program.
• Ability to thrive in an active open-air kitchen while maintaining cleanliness and focus during live service.
• Strong knife skills and fundamental cooking techniques with attention to plating.
• Coachable mindset with eagerness to learn from top culinary professionals.
• Flexibility to work event-based shifts; ORIGIN events may run 12:00 PM–11:00 PM monthly.
• Active Food Handler or ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in all phases of culinary events, including pre-event setup, execution and post-event breakdown and cleaning.
• Support organization and execution of a multi-course fine-dining dinner in an active open-air kitchen with high guest visibility.
• Anchor kitchen prep and service for ORIGIN at 4Roots, adapting to new concepts as programming grows.
• Execute meticulous prep, batch cooking, and station organization to meet fine-dining standards.
• Learn refined kitchen techniques, efficiency, and menu development with Chef Hari Pulapaka and visiting leaders.
• Handle peak-season ingredients sourced across Florida and campus farm operations.
• Uphold food safety, sanitation, and equipment care throughout prep, service and breakdown.
