Northshore Dock & Marine is seeking a reliable Barge Assistant to support barge operators with boat hoists, docks, and related equipment in Northern Michigan. This outdoor, hands-on role involves loading, securing, and transporting hoists, plus basic maintenance around boats and docks.

The ideal candidate is dependable, able to work outdoors in varying weather, physically capable of lifting and moving equipment, and a good communicator who thrives in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience not required; willing to train the right person.
• Must be able to lift and maneuver equipment and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around water.

Responsibilities

• Assist the barge operator with delivery and installation of boat hoists and docks.
• Assist with removal of boat hoists at season end.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload boat hoists and related equipment.
• Haul hoists to and from customers' properties and storage facilities.
• Winterize and move equipment into winter storage as needed.
• Position and operate equipment safely around docks, shorelines, and boats.
• Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of barges, trucks, trailers, and equipment.
• Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers on job sites.
• Follow all safety procedures and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Be willing to perform other general marine and yard duties.
