Job summary

The City of Laguna Beach invites applications for the Maintenance Aide in the Public Works & Utilities Department. The role supports landscape maintenance, building and facilities, and urban forestry divisions as needed, with emphasis on the Landscape Maintenance and Urban Forestry division.

Responsibilities include planting and grounds upkeep, working outdoors in parks and trails, and assisting staff with diverse tasks while ensuring safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of one year general maintenance, construction or repair work.
• License/Certificate: Valid California Driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist landscape maintenance tasks: raking, weeding, trimming, plant replacement and landscape improvements.
• Work outside along street medians, buffers, parks and trails.
• Support maintenance staff with basic tasks and duties as assigned.
• Clean and sanitize park amenities and remove debris and litter.
• Recognize and report unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
• Provide information and assistance to the public within training scope.
• Maintain courteous and cooperative interactions with the public and City staff.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
