Job summary

Mayor and City Council of Baltimore seeks Seasonal Maintenance Aides for the City’s Parks divisions. This role involves labor-intensive landscaping tasks outdoors in various city spaces, with supervision and rotating shifts.

Expect five-day weeks, possible evenings and weekends, and overtime for emergencies. Responsibilities include lawn care, debris removal, and basic infrastructure tasks, all performed under supervision in outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow instructions and safety rules.
• Capable of strenuous physical activity in outdoor settings.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and shifts.
• Ability to operate basic landscape and hand tools as directed.

Responsibilities

• Cleans vacant lots, alleys, parks, playgrounds and related spaces.
• Mows, trims, plants, mulches, and performs landscaping tasks.
• Cuts and removes tree limbs obstructing traffic or private property.
• Assists with sewer and pipe work and concrete-related tasks as needed.
• Operates simple equipment under supervision.
• Responds to emergencies and participates in clean-up.
• Climbs ladders or scaffolding as required for tasks.
• Directs vehicle flow at work sites when necessary.
