West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science (WMAES) is seeking a K-12 Substitute Teacher to seamlessly fill in classrooms as needed, including occasional long-term assignments. The role supports environmental and outdoor learning on our 62-acre campus.

Candidates should be comfortable in outdoor settings, bring creativity, and be able to follow lesson plans, maintain routines, and contribute to a respectful, safe learning environment in collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach outdoors with hands-on activities and experiential learning.
• Belief that all children can learn and excel regardless of background.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with staff, students, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Follow the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom you substitute.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and safety.
• Instruct assigned classes at scheduled times and meet expected routines.
• Use technology effectively for instruction, record keeping, and communication.
• Promote responsible citizenship and a respectful classroom atmosphere.
• Support and uphold the Academy's mission and values.
