Qualifications

• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or obtain an associate's degree (or higher).
• Knowledge of and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing and mathematics; or reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness.
• Ability to communicate with students, staff and guardians professionally, with strong grammar and clear expression.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in preparing the classroom or laboratory for instruction.
• Prepare and distribute lesson materials.
• Instruct students under supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Maintain individual student records as asked.
• Keep the classroom neat and orderly to support learning.
