Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking Outdoor Leadership Instructors to deliver engaging, safety-focused outdoor education and adventure activities for participants of all ages. Instructors will lead hiking, paddling, rock-climbing, and other outdoor experiences, emphasizing personal growth, teamwork, and community involvement.

Ideal candidates bring strong facilitation skills, risk management experience, and a commitment to equity and inclusivity.

Qualifications

• Experience leading outdoor education and adventure activities for varied age groups.
• Ability to assess and manage risks in outdoor settings to ensure safety.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusivity, and working with diverse populations.
• Current WFA and CPR Certification.
• Washington State Food Handler Permit validity.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record and willingness to meet YMCA driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality outdoor recreation and environmental education programming to groups and individuals.
• Lead rope courses, hiking, paddling, rock-climbing, cycling, and snowshoeing activities.
• Instruct and coach participants to support risk management and inclusive participation.
• Foster positive group development and strong rapport with participants, partners, and staff.
• Adhere to all policies, regulations, and safety standards; support staff trainings and team collaboration.
