Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation in Dillon, Colorado, seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist to perform snow plowing, operate heavy equipment, and maintain roadways. Qualifications

• At least two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no air brake restriction.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and maintaining roadways.
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump truck, loader, and tractor mower.
• Mowing grass and weeds and removing debris from roadways.
• Removing debris from culverts, tunnels, and closures.
• Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete and asphalt as needed.
• Installing and repairing guardrails, signs and lighting.
• Filling potholes and roadway cracks; setting out traffic signs.
• Removing graffiti and applying pavement markings.
• Responding to emergencies and assisting with traffic control.
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs; adhering to safety protocols.
