Job summary

CDOT invites applications for a part-time Highway Maintenance Specialist at Shaw Creek Rest Area/South Fork, CO. The role focuses on cleaning and maintaining grounds and facilities, with on-call duties and response to weather or emergencies.

Work in a team with a lead highway maintenance specialist and other peers. Duties include snow plowing, operating heavy equipment, mowing, debris removal, and installing repairs to infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• On-call and rotating shift availability, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and maintaining Shaw Creek Rest Area grounds.
• Operate heavy equipment (tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower).
• Mow grass, remove debris, repair guardrails and signs as needed.
• Set up traffic controls and signage during emergencies or maintenance.
• Maintain equipment and follow safety protocols.
