Job summary

Outagamie County is seeking a Highway Field Maintenance Worker to keep roads and airport areas safe year-round. This hands-on role covers snow removal, pothole repair, and seasonal maintenance, with outdoor duties in all weather.

Under supervision, you will perform highway maintenance, assist equipment operators, set up traffic controls, and support airport facilities. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Wisconsin driver's license are required; willingness to respond to emergencies is

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and valid Wisconsin driver's license.
Experience running small equipment and vehicles.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and lift up to 50–100 lbs.
Knowledge of safety regulations and daily recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

Perform highway maintenance duties including pothole patching, crack filling, sweeping, mowing, brush cutting, guardrail repair, and bridge maintenance.
Assist Equipment Operators in construction and repair of highways and related infrastructure.
Maintain grounds adjacent to highway facilities and airport buildings.
Set up traffic control layouts per WISDOT guidelines and assist in striping operations.
Respond to emergencies after hours and during winter operations (brine, plowing, equipment servicing).
Complete daily time/location/ materials/ equipment records.
Operate small tools and light vehicles, and maintain a clean, safe worksite.
Communicate effectively with team members and county officials.
