Job summary

Lewis Services is seeking a Spray Technician in Norwalk, CT to support vegetation management operations by safely applying herbicides and pesticides along utility rights-of-way, ensuring reliable service for customers.

You will mix and apply chemicals, operate spray equipment, and maintain records while adhering to safety protocols and environmental regulations. This role offers paid training and opportunities for internal promotions.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued pesticide or herbicide applicator license.
• Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
• Follow herbicide labels, guidelines and safety procedures accurately.
• Attention to detail when mixing, measuring and applying chemicals.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Reliable attendance and professional conduct on job sites.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
• CPR/First Aid certification provided by Lewis.
• Herbicide applicator certification or ability to obtain it.
• Compliance with state/local/federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Mix and apply herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals per label directions.
• Operate spray equipment including trucks, backpack and handheld sprayers.
• Identify target vegetation and select appropriate treatment methods.
• Monitor weather, wind and environmental factors for safe application.
• Calibrate spray equipment and adjust nozzle settings for proper coverage.
• Maintain records of chemical applications and areas treated per regulations.
• Inspect, clean, and maintain spray equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times.
• Communicate with property owners, customers and the public.
• Work as a team to complete work orders safely and efficiently.
• Assist with vegetation assessments and site surveys as needed.
