Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Fish Culturist 1 for the Benner Springs Fish Hatchery in a 7-month seasonal role. You will learn fish care, propagate, and stock fish while gaining hands-on experience in conservation work and facility operations.

A CDL is required before completing probation, and the position may lead to full-time employment after training. Shifts run 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some weekends and holidays possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent as required training.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required prior to completing probation.

Responsibilities

• Support fish propagation, care, and stocking operations for healthy public fisheries.
• Assist with brood stock collection, egg handling, and record keeping.
• Care for eggs and monitor hatch results, including water quality and treatments.
• Perform fish care tasks: cleaning units, feeding, and monitoring health.
• Assist in stocking operations and maintain related equipment.
• Support maintenance of buildings, equipment, grounds, and tools.
