Job summary

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is seeking a Fish Culturist 1 at the Huntsdale State Fish Hatchery to support propagation and care of fish statewide. This role provides valuable training in fish culture practices that protect and strengthen Pennsylvania fisheries and offers hands-on experience in fish care and resource management.

The position is full-time (40 hours/week) with a schedule of 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic training in hatchery operations and fish handling.
• Ability to learn brood stock collection and egg handling processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist propagation, care, and stocking of fish at the hatchery.
• Learn brood stock collection, egg handling, and record keeping.
• Maintain tanks, feeders, and water quality for healthy fish.
• Operate stocking vehicles and assist with equipment upkeep.
• Support maintenance of buildings, grounds, and hatchery tools.
