Job summary

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is seeking a knowledgeable fisheries professional to fill a Fisheries Technician position in Centre County. You will support water quality tasks at Northern and Southern Hatcheries, helping protect aquatic resources through fieldwork and lab duties.

Minimum experience includes three years in fisheries science or related training; a valid driver's license is required, and PA residency is required.

Qualifications

  • Three years of technical fisheries science experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Three years of college with biology credits including fish-related topics.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

  • Log and preserve water samples and manage chain of custody documentation.
  • Conduct tests for pH, oxygen, solids, phosphorus, chloride and other parameters.
  • Calculate results and prepare permit reporting information.
  • Calibrate and maintain meters, pumps and other laboratory tools.
  • Provide guidance to hatchery staff on sample collection and compliance.
  • Compile water quality data and submit electronic discharge reports.
