Job summary

Lucas Tree Experts is seeking Arborist Trainees in West Jefferson, NC for a full-time, year-round outdoor role. The position offers on-the-job training, opportunities to learn felling, climbing, rigging, and equipment operation, with wage incentives and licensing support.

No prior tree-industry experience is required; trainees advance through certifications while contributing to vegetation management, line clearance, and removals in various weather.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older with a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Must be physically able to perform the requirements of the position (e.g., walk on uneven grounds, carry 75 lbs.).
• Must be willing to obtain and maintain licenses/certifications as required by the position.
• Must be willing to learn to run a bucket truck and operate equipment safely.
• Post offer physical & drug screen, background, and motor vehicle check required.

Responsibilities

• Manual removal of vegetation from work areas.
• Pesticide application as needed.
• Safely operate forestry equipment (skidders, mowers, chainsaws, ATVs).
• Perform line clearance, pruning, and removals.
