Qualifications

• One year or more of experience in outdoor program activities or equivalent.
• Experience leading interpretive activities.
• Experience in guiding and/or teaching outdoor activities preferred.
• Excellent guest service and communication skills; public speaking experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain within one month.
• Ability to work well with co-workers and management; diplomacy and tact.
• Knowledge of Asheville and Western North Carolina outdoors is helpful.
• Familiarity with safety regulations related to fishing and wildlife management.
• Familiarity with Orvis 101 programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with information, rental equipment, and map orientation.
• Load equipment on/off vans and trailers (rafts, bikes, kayaks, etc.).
• Drive a 15-passenger van and trailer with guests and equipment.
• Clean and maintain bikes, rafts, kayaks, and equipment.
• Operate kayaks/rafts, launch and row drift boats.
• Return all gear to proper place and prep for next use.
• Perform basic trail and habitat maintenance (mowing, weed-eating, digging).
• Present naturalist, well-being, and history programs to guests.
• Assist with special programs for large groups (fishing schools).
• Help guests with estate information and activities offered at Biltmore.
• Book tours, process payments, interpret online reports.
• Provide general support to department, leadership, and company.
