Qualifications

Outcomes Assessment Coordinator Faculty Position

Southwestern Illinois College, a community college offering both transfer and occupational degrees, is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track position within the Center for Teaching and Learning. The anticipated start date is Summer 2027.

Position Description

In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the successful applicant will assist in the further development of the College outcomes assessment model to include course, program, and institutional levels of assessment. The position will be responsible for designing assessment models and ensuring the effectiveness of the assessment plan to improve student learning. The role will involve planning and coordinating assessment functions, collaborating with faculty, administration, and the Center for Teaching and Learning. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assess student performance and collaborate with faculty to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional offerings and programs.
• Analyze assessment findings to ensure reliability and validity. Share findings with college constituents to devise implementation strategies.
• Assist with program review and evaluation processes, including developing goals and outcomes and designing tools to measure attainment.
• Oversee and coordinate outcomes assessment functions, including participation in the Outcomes Assessment committee structure.
• Develop and implement assessment models across all academic divisions.
• Report and maintain documentation of outcomes assessment activities for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate assessment activities with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and assist with HLC training.
• Identify special needs related to the assessment of student learning.
• Collaborate with Institutional Research to monitor compliance with assessment practices consistent with HLC and Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) guidelines.
• Stay current in best practices related to the assessment of student learning to improve instruction.
• Participate in college-wide projects and support resource development activities, such as grant writing, to enhance assessment and improvement efforts.
• Provide training for and assist with instructional, annual, five-year ICCB, and co‑curricular program review.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in Assessment, Educational Research, or a related field (required).
2. Three years of teaching experience, emphasizing student learning outcomes and evaluation.
3. Applied and advanced knowledge of research and assessment methodology, curriculum development, and assessment design.
4. Strong presentation skills to communicate assessment plans and results to diverse audiences.
5. Experience working with diverse student populations (preferred).
6. Meets the minimum standards of instruction established by the Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.

Salary

This is a twelve‑month position. Salary is determined by placement on the salary schedule with an adjustment for the twelve‑month schedule. For example, the minimum 2026‑2027 starting salary at Step 1 on the Master’s degree column is $79,255.48. Actual starting salary is determined by educational attainment and experience. Voluntary overload and summer assignments may also increase annual compensation. The college offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.
