Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates In transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
The Out of School Youth Development Specialist will be responsible for establishing a rapport with youth ages 18-24 years old that is conducive to helping participants receive career exploration, career immersion, graduate from high school on-time, workforce/post-secondary education preparation and summer activities; act as a positive role model for participants and model professional and ethical standards; work in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, Regional Workforce Development staff, local high school personnel and the community at large to promote and support the mission and goals of Youth Development Youth Programs and abide by all Camp Community College’s policies and procedures.
This is a full-time restricted classified position. Continuation of employment is based on funding availability.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Experience working with alternative and at-risk youth in an educational and workforce development settings, with demonstrated knowledge of case management practices, participant engagement, and support service coordination. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship‑building skills are preferred.
