Job summary

Feeding America is seeking a Class A Driver to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and transport food freight across urban, suburban, and rural routes. The role is an over-the-road position with potential deliveries nationwide, including loading/unloading responsibilities for partner programs.

Requirements include a valid CDL with DOT medical certificate, a clean driving record, and at least one year of tractor/trailer experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year tractor/trailer route delivery experience.
• Knowledge of DOT/state/federal trucking regulations.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Insurable by the company vehicle insurer.

Job description

Mileage Rate: $0.70 CPM
Home Weekly
Average Miles: 2200-2500 weekly
Equipment: Late Model with Low Mileage
Additional Pay: Detention
$80 per full day, following the IRS-approved daily allowance.
Prorated for partial travel days based on time away from home.
Drivers must be away from their tax home overnight to qualify.

Per Diem:
First 2 hours are free (standard industry allowance).
After that, detention is paid at $30 per hour.
Daily maximum detention payout is $180 per day.
Routes: Consistent routes week to week

Job responsibilities

The purpose of the Class A Driver is to safely and efficiently operate commercial motor vehicle in urban, suburban, and rural areas to transport freight. This position is an over the road position with the possibility of delivering to a wide variety of locations in the U.S. The position may require loading and unloading food products to charitable feeding partners and programs. All responsibilities and duties will further Gleaners’ mission to be a leader in the fight against hunger.

Class A CDL with current and valid DOT medical certificate
Candidate must have a good driving record
1 + years tractor/trailer route delivery experience
High School Diploma/GED preferred
Experience with handheld route phone and/or electronic logging devices are desirable
Knowledge of DOT, state, and federal trucking regulations is required
Valid driver's license/Clean driving record /3 years of driving experience/Must be insurable by company vehicle insurance provider
