Job summary

West Roxbury Health & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our rehabilitation team in Boston. You will evaluate, develop, and implement individualized therapy programs aimed at improving function, safety, and independence for residents.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care, educate families, and participate in discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• Current state license to practice Occupational Therapy
• Long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation experience preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning and treatment planning skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Passion for helping residents achieve meaningful functional goals
• This position requires reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English at an intermediate or higher level

Responsibilities

• Perform occupational therapy evaluations and assessments based on resident needs
• Develop individualized treatment plans focused on improving daily living skills, mobility, cognition, safety, and functional independence
• Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments according to physician orders and established plans of care
• Help residents improve motor skills, coordination, strength, reasoning abilities, and ability to complete activities of daily living
• Incorporate meaningful therapeutic activities to support resident goals, including dressing, grooming, eating, mobility, and other functional tasks
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers on strategies to promote independence and safety
• Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications when appropriate
• Participate in discharge planning and assist residents and families with transition goals
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Participate in resident care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings
• Provide clinical direction and support to Occupational Therapy Assistants
• Promote a safe, organized, and positive rehabilitation environment
• Our OT team works with residents with orthopedic recovery, neurological conditions, stroke recovery, cognitive challenges, balance concerns, functional decline, ADL retraining, and quality-of-life goals

What You'll Do
