Job summary

Bear Mountain in Boston, MA is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our rehabilitation team. You will evaluate, develop, and implement individualized programs to improve function, safety, and independence for residents in a long-term care setting.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, educate residents and families, and document progress in accordance with regulations, while promoting a safe, person-centered rehabilitation environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current state license to practice Occupational Therapy.
  • Long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and treatment planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement individualized OT programs to improve function, safety, and independence.
  • Perform OT evaluations and assessments based on resident needs.
  • Develop treatment plans focused on ADL, mobility, cognition, safety, and independence.
  • Provide skilled OT treatments per physician orders and care plans.
  • Help residents improve motor skills, coordination, strength, and daily living activities.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on strategies to promote independence and safety.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications when appropriate.
  • Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Provide direction to OT Assistants and maintain documentation per regulations.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do

As an Occupational Therapist at Bear Mountain, you will evaluate, develop, and implement individualized occupational therapy programs designed to improve function, safety, and independence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform occupational therapy evaluations and assessments based on resident needs
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on improving daily living skills, mobility, cognition, safety, and functional independence
  • Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments according to physician orders and established plans of care
  • Help residents improve motor skills, coordination, strength, reasoning abilities, and ability to complete activities of daily living
  • Incorporate meaningful therapeutic activities to support resident goals, including dressing, grooming, eating, mobility, and other functional tasks
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on strategies to promote independence and safety
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications when appropriate
  • Participate in discharge planning and assist residents and families with transition goals
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Participate in resident care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Provide clinical direction and support to Occupational Therapy Assistants
  • Promote a safe, organized, and positive rehabilitation environment
  • Our Occupational Therapists work with residents experiencing a variety of rehabilitation needs, including:
    • Orthopedic recovery
    • Neurological conditions
    • Stroke recovery
    • Cognitive and memory-related challenges
    • Balance and safety concerns
    • Functional decline
    • ADL retraining needs
    • Long-term maintenance and quality-of-life goals
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current state license to practice Occupational Therapy
  • Long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation experience preferred
  • Strong clinical reasoning and treatment planning skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Passion for helping residents achieve meaningful functional goals
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors.In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
