Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an OT Network Engineer to design, implement, and support secure OT network infrastructure across generation facilities. You will work on control systems, SCADA, DCS, and historians, ensuring reliable connections for new generation projects and existing operations.

You will design architectures, configure devices, and troubleshoot end-to-end network paths while adhering to cybersecurity and NERC CIP controls. Travel and onsite presence at generation sites are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of network engineering/administration experience in OT/industrial environments.
• Experience with industrial protocols and OT security concepts preferred.
• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls; DNP3/Modbus/OPC is preferred.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco platforms is required.

Responsibilities

• Design standardized OT network architectures for control systems and SCADA.
• Engineer routing, switching, segmentation, and secure remote access.
• Configure, install, test, and commission networking equipment at generation sites.
• Support testing, outages, and project turnover; troubleshoot outages and degraded communications.
• Apply cybersecurity requirements and NERC CIP controls to OT network work.
• Maintain diagrams, IP records, firewall documentation, and lifecycle plans.
